Hampstead Hill School
The Educatus Explorer recently enjoyed a new school term visit to the co-educational Hampstead Hill School in the heart of leafy Hampstead, London. This family run prep school which resides in two historical buildings, is currently celebrating its 75th Anniversary. The children benefit from an unusually attractive and interesting main site which is home to Early Years and Pre-Reception as well as Pre-Prep. The school makes excellent use of its outdoor spaces, boasting three playgrounds and proximity to the wonders of Hampstead Heath just a short walk away.
The pupils also have access to St. Stephen’s hall, where exercise and movement classes, and the Reception Year music, singing and dance lessons are all held. This hall also serves as a fantastic venue for Reception Year shows. The school’s second site, All Hallows Hall, is a short stroll from the main campus and now houses the newly opened Prep school, which launched in September 2024.
Hampstead Hill is a non-selective school and provides the peace of mind and security that comes with traditional teaching and values. Reception is made up of four classes all of which have 2 teachers sharing the teaching. Alongside a varied and engaging curriculum, the school fosters a happy and stimulating environment that encourages children to grow and thrive.
Sustainability is a real key focus at Hampstead Hill. The school incorporates green initiatives, such as live growing walls and outdoor air purifiers, which are integrated into the science curriculum. Hampstead Hill has also achieved ‘National Healthy School Status.’ Meals and snacks are freshly prepared on-site using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.
Beyond the school day, Hampstead Hill offers a range of after-school activities and a holiday program run exclusively for its pupils by Active Day Camps.
The Explorer was particularly impressed with the new Prep school which is about a 10-minute walk from the main site. Having opened in September 2024, it is modern throughout and although only has a small group of pupils enrolled at present, it is ready to become a thriving environment for future years. The year 3 children are still a big part of the main school, and the year 2 pupils are already using the facilities in preparation for their move over in September 2025.
Hampstead Hill School continues to exemplify a warm, engaging, and forward-thinking approach to education, in a vibrant community setting. The Educatus Explorer looks forward to seeing how the Prep School grows in the years to come and celebrating future milestones at this wonderful institution!
