Knightsbridge School
Educatus were welcomed to Knightsbridge in June, a co-educational school taking children from nursery age and now all the way through to age 16 and GCSEs.
Central to the school’s ethos is the founder, Magoo Giles. Author of the school’s code of conduct, he remains a key figure at Knightsbridge alongside the head of school Shona Colaço. Also central are the school’s sense of community and charity, through long-standing connections with organisations such as the Royal Hospital in nearby Chelsea.
The decision to expand through to senior school is a recent one and the first cohort sat their GCSE exams in 2023. Numbers remain small, but growing, with a reassuringly even mix of boys and girls and all the subjects on offer that parents might expect, with French, Spanish and Latin as the language options.
The all-through offering available at Knightsbridge therefore makes it a great option for international and local families alike as parents can still rely on support to prepare children for the 11+ and 13+ or have the option of staying at Knightsbridge if they prefer. Although there is no sixth form at present, the school is part of the Duke’s Education family with links to the likes of Eaton Square Seniors.
The Knightsbridge location means that, whilst there is little outdoor space, the school can make excellent use of nearby facilities such as St Savour’s Church, where much of the ever-popular performing arts take place, and St Columba’s for indoor sports and extracurricular activities. Outdoor pursuits take place in nearby parks and the location offers up no end of opportunities to visit some of the best museums and cultural attractions in central London. The school itself occupies a period building, decorated throughout with artwork and photographs to showcase the children’s achievements, particularly in art, performing arts, music, and sport.
The school is non-selective but likes children to spend time in school as part of a taster day. Mild SEN and EAL can be supported in many cases, and a really strong sense of pastoral support and focus on the individual permeates the school.
Knightsbridge was recently inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate and was rated as excellent throughout, with the inspectors remarking on the pupils’ exemplary behaviour, highly sophisticated study skills, high academic standards and achievements beyond the classroom.
What we love at The Educatus Explorer is what Knightsbridge can offer to families living in the heart of London – a truly all-round school that will ensure its children find their talents and passions, and excel in them.
